It will be no time off to rest these school holidays for two of CWPA’s female athletes. Lauren Brennan and Tiana Sinclair will be attending Australian Camps during December and January at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. Attendance at these camps could lead to Australian Team selection in Australian Born 1995 or Born 1998 teams.
Both girls were involved in our U20 Pan Pacs Gold Medal winning team earlier this year and have been training exceptionally hard this year.
Lauren will be attending the Women’s Residential camp, which is a 6 week long camp over December and January. It features athletes vying for selection in the Australian B95 team, which will compete at the Junior World Championships in 2015. This is the second time Lauren has been invited to this camp and will look to utilize the extra training in the Water and the Gym under the guidance of Head Coach Eddie Dennis, to improve her game in the water, but will also have access to AIS staff that will teach the squad about Nutrition, Recovery and Psychological conditioning to ensure they are able to meet the demands of an elite athlete.
For Tiana this will be the second B98 camp she would have been involved with after attending a selection camp in Melbourne last year. Tiana is looking to gain a spot in the Australian B98 team that will travel to Europe in 2015. Tiana will train alongside more than 20 B98 and B99 athletes in a weeklong intensive camp under the eyes of head coach Predrag Mihailovic.
CWPA wishes both athletes the best of luck with both their camps and we will look to follow their progress via Facebook and our new Instagram Account. Don’t forget to follow both accounts to keep up to date with all that’s happening with CWPA. Just search Canberra Water Polo Academy to get involved!
