CWPA COACH HEADS TO USA

CWPA coach Ryan McDermott is about to set sail for the USA to complete an internship with Big Valley Water Polo Academy. Ryan who has been a coach and manager for the past 3 seasons has been given the opportunity to expand his coaching and administrative skills during a 4-5 month stint in Stockton, California.

Ryan will depart early next term for Los Angeles to attend the USA Water Polo “Junior Olympics”. The Junior Olympics is the US National championships for ages U10s through to U18s. The Junior Olympics runs for 2 weeks with the boy’s competition running first followed by the girl’s tournament with over 700 teams competing across 30 pools in the Orange County area of Los Angeles.

Ryan will then take up a coaching position with St Mary’s High School whilst also attending University of Pacific training sessions and games. UOP is the current home of CWPA athlete Tim Reeves who is about to being his sophomore season with the Tigers.

Whilst coaching Ryan will also be working with Shane Mahoney at Big Valley Water Polo Academy to help develop current programs and systems that Big Valley currently have in place as well as look to develop new programs within the club setup.
