Junior Dolphins training cycle
The only requirement is that your child can swim 25m Freestyle.
I would always recommend your child try a couple sessions first to see if they enjoy it, before you commit to the sessions. You will not be charged for these sessions.
You can join the program at any time throughout the cycle. A reduced fee will be arranged with the head coach.
Please refer to the Junior Dolphins page on the website for sessions cost information.
We use a direct debiting system where you can pay by credit card or bank deposit. Direct Debit request forms can be found on the website. – http://canberrawaterpoloacademy.com/about-us/policies-forms-and-documents/
Athletes who have spent some time doing the Junior Dolphins training sessions can progress to games if they want. The idea is to train the athlete to a level where they feel confident in their abilities to play a full modified game of water polo. If you are unsure about whether your child is ready for the JD comp night, please ask one of the coaches for their opinion.
I average JD session consist of in water or dry land warm up. The kids will progress through such skills as water polo swimming, ball handling, passing, shooting, defending and attacking. The sessions go for 1 hour. Here is a video explaining what the JD program has to offer. – http://canberrawaterpoloacademy.com

The kids need to bring swimmers, goggles and a towel. To sign up for the session you will need to bring in the required forms which are also located at the pool and on the website.

You will be given an athlete sign-up sheet when you attend your first session. If you decide to continue with the trainings, you will need to fill out a Direct Debit Request form. All of these forms can be found on the website. http://canberrawaterpoloacademy.com/about-us/policies-forms-and-documents/
If you miss a session for any reason, you are able to make that session up at any of the other JD locations in that training cycle.
The Junior Dolphins training cycle runs for 10 weeks and coincides with the ACT school term. There is no JD trainings or competition during the ACT school holidays.
Friday Night Junior Dolphins Competition
We prefer to have the athletes complete a few JD training sessions before they try a game of modified water polo. If you are unsure about whether your child is ready for the JD comp night, please ask one of the coaches for their opinion.
The coaches will usually tell the athletes when they are ready to play games of modified water polo. Parents are also welcome to ask the coach if their child is ready for competition. We are always happy for the athlete to have a trial first before committing.
We understand that families have other commitments so if you can’t attend a JD comp game it is not the end of the world. We are very flexible and accommodating.
